Meet Our Doctors
Douglas A. Kuhn, MD, FAAOS
Orthopaedic Surgeon
“It’s no secret that the hands play a vital role in life, so when hand problems occur they can completely disrupt a person’s life. I’m pleased to have the training, experience and skills needed to deliver highly effective care in this important subspecialty. I am the only fellowship-trained hand surgeon on the medical staffs at both Community and Greenfield Hospitals.
“I’ve always been fascinated by science, and being a physician lets me put that interest to use in a way that alleviates pain and helps people lead fuller lives. Over the years, my day-to-day interaction with thousands of patients has also made me much more aware of just how unique each individual is.
“My patients often remark on how much personal attention we devote to them, and we take that as high praise. Although I find the mechanics of the human body and hand surgery fascinating, I have never forgotten what the successful outcome of a surgery means. Good hand movement allows people to perform their work and everyday activities easily, so it impacts not just the patient but his or her entire family.
“As a physician, I feel it’s my job to find a solution to patients’ problems in the context of their lives. I love this challenge and have even pioneered a method of performing carpal tunnel surgery under local anesthesia that reduces recovery time.
“I feel honored to be able to interact with such a variety of interesting people, empathize with their problems and find the solutions that are right for them. That’s why I became a physician in the first place.”
